About 20 minutes on the lathe. Any well stocked hardware store should have shaft coupling sleeves intheir 'weird parts' bin. put shaft coupling in the search box.  Usually not the cheapest but one of the best stocked and great customer service and the best ecommerce web site I know of. If one wanted to cut corners due to lack of machine shop equipment.

Get a threaded rod coupling, drill out the hole and drill & tap the ends. This all can be gotten from a local hardware store..

hell, with the lengths of those couplings, you might be able to cut them in two via a cheap 4.5" portable disc grinder and get two..

I'm always stinking, I mean thinking!
