Stuck cassette in Philips VCR, help!

I have a Philips VR6290 with an "IDM" (Philips) mechanism. The mech won't eject the cassette. I have located the loading motor and have tried to disconnect one wire and run it from an ext. psu, but it will only move the mech slightly and not fully eject, reversing polarity several times will not make it move further either. There is a cover plate underneath and I am not able to see what is jammed. Is there an easy way to 'emergency-eject' it?

Get the cover off, find the gear that ejects the motor, and rotate that by hand.

The "FAQ" has a section of First Aid for the VCR, and I think that sort of bit is in that section rather than in the larger one dealing with the repair of VCRs.

Sounds like a turbo deck to me in which case the gear that ejects the tape is a worm drive under the cassette! Best of VCR design, good luck John.
