problem with Samsung mini-DV recording

Hi, I bought a Samsung mini-DV (SCD 103) about two years ago. Lately I have problem with it. When I turn it on, the screen is dark and no images can be recorded (only voice). First I took out the battery and reput it back, it worked for sometime then this trick didn't work. Now I can't record at all (the screen turns dark once it's turned on). I can still play back, so I think the LCD is fine. I don't know how serious the problem is. Can someone offer some advice? Thanks. Zen

Probably the CCD imaging device - they've had some problems with those. Sony and JVC have also been having problems - JVC's selling replacement parts cheaper and Sony is offering free fixes. Not Samsung though, the part is about 56.00 dealer cost, then there's labor to install.
