Is this a common fault with this player? Sometimes stops after 5 mins with disc error and locks up , other times will play for an hour then stop. Even from new it hesitated half way thru any film but would always continue.
Classic bad laser pickup. Time for a new player, hopefully not a Philips.
FYI Pioneer's seem to be the most reliable on the average.

The laser unit is becoming weak, and is getting very sensitive to the small tracking offsets during its travel. It is not feasible to change the laser in that player.
