Help finding service bulletin for RCA tv

x-no-archive:yes

I read in some doccuments about a Service bulletin n98-0005 something to do with how to determine if jumpers are needed for my tuner repair. Does anyone know what this is and where can I read about it?

I have an older RCA with channels where the picture goes out and pack in and gets snow. Somtimes the audio goes out too sometimes not. I think it is the infamous tuner ground problem and will crack it open tonight.

If you want specific information post the exact model and chassis number for your set.

I believe that you are confused with info from a later chassis. On the CTC169 you might need to resolder some connections in the tuner, but not add any jumpers.

The sound problem is likely not related. Possibly some leaky caps in the audio circuit. This likely goes beyond your capability, considering your other posts.

So can you see why people get frustrated trying to help you? If you can't communicate relevant info and do so clearly, it is impossible to help. Sounds like you are in over your head and you need to get it to a tech who is experienced on the 169 chassis.

That was my point that I had put in his original post and you and others didn`t get ther point that some of these guys don`t have a clue to what to do or where to look even if you did put it in plain english for them. I would also suggest to take this to your local repairshop or atleast give them a call to see if they will come out to have a look at before you go in there and do more damage than what is already there.

How do we know what you are responding to unless you include the previous post. I am not foing to go back and find the previous posts to try to guess which one you are commenting on. You will be largely ignored if you don't provide some context for your comments.

Is this how this forum is ran by doing quotes all the time instead of making replies ? Thanks for filling me in. I thought it was like alot of the other forums I belong to that we can just click on the reply and make a reply to the post. I will remember this from now on and hit the quote tab.

to guess

don't
