Child lock again .

I posted this before but everyone thought i was 10 years old :-)

The lady brought the tv here . Magnavox 27M53435 She was watching it one day and with the remote ( now missing ) she had managed to hit the child lock feature and the set would no longer power on .

When plugged in now i can hear the speaker pop and the red power light is on but no tv . I went through the chassis quickly and its clean and no typical-usual parts are bad . I found a Philips remote & dont know if it matches ( should ? ) and tried holding buttons down with no luck .

Help !

Hi...

Way down near the bottom of this page you'll find a convoluted solution involving the use of a generic remote.

Search the page for the word "solution" and you'll find it.

Take care.

Thanks . I found the info that basically ran me through the use of code search with a universal remote to power the set back on . In this case it did not work . The lady said the set worked till she hit child lock . Why she lost the original remote is beyond me .

Consumers START by throwing away the owner's manual. Why be surprised what else they do?

Hi...

Doesn't everyone know that instructions are included to be used only as an absolute last resort? :)

Sheesh, needed to adjust my snowblower drive wheel a couple of weeks ago. Went straight to where I keep manuals, and found it within 60 seconds. Dated 1971 :)

I'm curious how Ken G reported it didn't work so quickly, though. The site I pointed him to said that it took about two days to find success, yet Ken G replied back a mere few hours later that it didn't work. Dunno.

Take care.
