Linaro aims to make the plumbing for porting Linux to ARM SoCs work very well

At issue are the numerous ARM SoCs out there that requires gcc and other essential tools to make light work of porting Linux to that new ARM SoC (System on Chip) devices hit the marketing shelves running.



Membership has to be paid for, but the benefit is that you get an army of engineers to trawl through the CPU specifications and go make it all work as best as it can be done across a greater variety of packages.



Canonical the makers of Ubuntu is one of the founding contributors to Linaro. Their plan is to run Ubuntu on dual core ARM mobiles
