Hung Chang has apparently "sunk without trace"! If you do find any archives please post back, I'm looking for a user manual for the MF200 counter that was supplied to Maplin by Hung Chang.

That's what you get buying from a fly by night outfit.

If you plan on keeping something for a while, it's always wise to get service info the time of purchase. or just don't pay too much so when the device comes to it's death, you won't feel so bad adding it to your weekly garbage pick up.

The MF200 was a lucky find at the local tip, especially lucky since the manager was out at the time and the site employee didn't know these items (including a function gen & a RF sig gen) were supposed to be reserved for someone else. Another item in my collection is a HC7030 DMM - my first DMM, this was rescued from a waste paper basket at a refurb Co I used to work for, when I got it home the Ohms & AC ranges didn't work, on opening the case I found the only socketed component was a dual op-amp so I tried replacing that and "hey presto" that fixed it. The Co even lent me a multimeter to calibrate it with the presets in the back.

Some old time repairmen can often figure out problems by experience. See if you can find someone locally.

I am an old time repairman - and I did fix it locally.

There you go. When I started out I was amazed by the skill at 'guessing' the older guys had. Now even I can do it - it just took 40 years.

Still - if anyone can find the OP's scope manual, there might also be an archive containing the counter manual I'm looking for. Its not faulty - I just thought the user manual might be handy should one turn up.
