JTAG software

From where can i get a JTAG software . I have a FPGA chip and configuration bit file. So how shall i load the bits to FPGA chip

I use iMPACT, which comes with the free version of Xilinx ISE 4.2i. I guess it's also included with the Xilinx WebPack, which is also free. You can download it from

Which FPGA? If it's Xilinx you should look for the iMPACT program which is part of WebPack, which is freely available on their site.
