I am designing a system which has both hardware and software parts. I want to make some computations in the hardware and then sample the results in the software running on PowerPC. Did anyone do something similar? Whats the best and the easiest way to do this?

Look at the UltraController Application Note which has a prebuilt PowerPC system and 32-bit GPIO interface to fabric to bring data into and onto the FPGA fabric from software running on the PowerPC. More information on this design can be found at:
