I need to know which contactor or starter to use to control my electric motor.

I have Bison Right Angle gearmotor(Part Number 026-756-4605 756 Series PSC 115V/230V Dual Voltage/Dual Frequency ) . I intend to connect it to a contactor or a starter to get a Forward rotation,Reverse rotation and Stop . This contactor will be controlled by PLC.

What I need is to know which contactor or starter to use ( Brand, part number and site ). Also I need a very clear wiring digram to connect the motor to the contactor. I will be using single phase Voltage 230V AC 50 Hz. The wiring diagram for the motor is available on

Can you please help me.

this is what i would do. use a simple 10 Amp relay to perform the direction shift. and use a solid state relay to apply the source. with the PLC, it should first make sure the source is off to the motor before making the direction shift! this will avoid contact arcing phase loading. so in your latter logic you would first turn off the solid state relay, wait for the time period of at least 1/50 and then perform the relay direction switch, wait for the time period it takes for the relay for fully actuate, then turn back on the motor via the solid state relay.. many people seem to forget the minimum time wait when switching motors for reverse action and end up burning out relay contacts.

Dear Jamie,

Thank you for the help . But I would realy appreciate it if you can help me finding the right relay and the solid state relay. Also the wiring digram.

Best Regards,

It sounds like you'd like them to come out and install it for you, too.
