Cell phone jamming is illegal and I don't want to be prosecuted for whatever it is you are going to do...

You a communictions lawyer? Why is it that many places today use these to prohibit cell phone usage within an particular area?

I don't think you need to have the skill set of a communications lawyer to understand the FCC Rules & Regulations on radiators.

As a college teacher, I would love to have a cell phone jammer in my classrooms. Almost every student has a cell phone, and at least once a week one goes off in class. There is a woman named Limor Fried who designed a cell phone jammer for her master's thesis at MIT. Her thesis is available online somewhere, and the schematics are in it. Good luck.

I'm quite sure they're illegal. I don't know whether somebody is using them.

There is a legal way to prevent cell phone usage in a particular area -- shield it so that the signals don't get in. I'm not sure exactly how much shielding is needed, but ordinary metal window screening might work if you're not too close to a cell phoen tower.

I'm a little surprised they'd give an M.S. degree for that. It's too simple. She may have done something fancy with multiple bands or the like.

I should add that it is *very* easy to locate the jammer. If you want to engage in jamming, don't expect any privacy. One person with a direction-finding antenna can generally find such a thing in minutes.

Probably because they don't know any better, or do know and are so full of themselves that they don't care.

You come off as the latter type.

The FCC takes action on intentional interference.

If you had any courage you would handle it by warning that a grade point will be deducted for *ANY* cellphone use in the classroom.

I'm a college teacher, and I deal with problems like this by giving the students a bit of education about basic politeness. Websurfing and games on laptops in class are a much bigger problem than cell phones.

Having a cell phone out in public view during a test is strictly forbidden, regardless of whether it rings; they could be texting answers to each other.

Sure, but you'll need your own nuclear power plant to run it.

You ought to lay down the law. "Anyone using a cell phone or allowing one to ring while class is in session will be summarily expelled and receive a failing grade for the semester."

LOL, thanks anyway. I'm not worried about the law, I sold cell phone jammers for about three years without any trouble. I'm just trying to cut out my engineer and build them myself. I found what I needed through a couple different search engines. God I love the net, nothing is sacred anymore.

And now you've given the police what we presume is your name...

It'll be the FCC that would be interested actually.
