Salve a tutti, non riesco più a trovare in internet un circuitino per alimentare in modo sicuro un cd esterno collegandolo alla presa dei 12 volt della macchina.

A quanto va alimentato il tuo lettore? Se è alimentato a tensioni tipo 3 o 5 volt puoi usare un semplice regolatore di tensione fisso come un 7805 (per avere i 5V) o un LM1086-3.3 (per avere 3,3V) anziché usare un regolatore variabile come LM317.
E' alimentato a 4.5 v e 550mA non di più. Però era un bel circuito, aveva nel finale due bjt messi in configurazione di autoregolazione, insomma, proprio bello. Non è che avresti qualcosa di simile?

7805 con un diodo (1n4001)in serie all'uscita.
