wasted ads

I get a lot of emails with links to appnotes or products data sheets or magazine issues. Then they want me to fill out a long registration form with a password or some such nonsense, just for the privilege of seeing their ad.

No thanks.

That’s the point—they only want to bother with people stupid enough to buy the product, so they make them self-select. ;)

There's a subset of that population, maybe 98%, who spend all day online doing useless things like filling out forms and attending webinars and stuff.

You mean like highland technolgy, where you're expected to register and login to download a datasheet?

The product descriptions, pictures, and specifications are in plain sight to anyone. There are no other "data sheets."

I'd prefer that manuals were public too, but that wasn't my choice.
