Says someone who abuses probability terms. The planet has a billion years left, no human now alive is likely to see any phase of planetary temperature other than over-warm. The trend we humans care about, is warming.

That might start sometime in the next twenty thousand years. The time constant for CO2 in the atmosphere is about 800 years, and even if we stop pushing it up before 2050 AD, there's no way we could start moving into a new ice age before 2850 AD.

Cheaper to spend the money it would take to educate people like John Larkin to understand what's actually going on. Of course they'd complain that it is their democratic right to stay pig-ignorant, so it would make a lot of lawyer rich in the process.

It does seem to full of people who are just as ignorant as John Larkin. May be it could spend more on education (not that that would have helped John, who got educated - if you can call it that - on the other side of the country.

The greenies aren't anti-energy, merely against getting energy in way that lead to long term problems (with isn't remotely anti-people).

Some of the propaganda pushed out by people who want to be able to keep on making money out of digging up fossil carbon and selling it as fuel is rema rkably stupid - it has to be aimed at gullible idiots anyway, so why skip t he more idiotic propositions that would put of people with any sense at all .

In New Orleans, we kept a hurricane kit, a couple of weeks of survival supplies. In San Francisco, we have our earthquake kit. It might be prudent for a German to do something like that.

I've been through two serious hurricanes and one pretty bad earthquake so far, and can reasonably expect a big blackout. These things happen.

How do you handle crop failures, and anomalous weather patterns, and the excess of parasites which are tolerable with a good winter kill, but take down entire species in warm years? Short sentences aren't the only thing short here, John Larkin is short-sighted.

Yep, greenies can talk in short sentences. Human survival requires entire ecosystems at the bottom of our resource pyramid. The climate is more important for more species in that support structure than electronics is. Larkin is harmless when he's talking about electronics.

Not a viable hypothesis, nor a scientific projection from any theory. That's just noise.

Crop yields continue to increase, way above previous centuries. We develop better insecticides and will eventually have serious ways to kill parasites and such, mess with their biochemistry. We can do all that in a warming world. Cold would be much harder to deal with. If it got cold, we'd have to clear-cut tropical forests to grow food.

Look at some millenia of temperature reconstructions. It gets hot and it gets cold, and some transitions are sudden. Will that pattern stop?

Climate is noise, riding on a few forcings. The computer sims haven't been very good.

A few million poor Germans and Poles will rent condos in Florida. Wait it out at Disney World.

We have too many bugs, many transported by us from other ecosystems. Heck, honeybees were imported to the USA, an unnatural invasive species. One day we'll be able to deploy very species-specific chemical defenses or targeted viruses. I'd veto mosquitoes first.

I have ideas. Consider possibilities. Things *will* change, and always have. What's sick about recognizing that?
