When I was young, I was absolutely fearless about heights. I would walk right down to the edge of a steep-pitched roof, 40 feet off the ground, and think nothing of it.

About the age of 40, I started getting afraid of heights, and it got severe. Even ladders were scary. That peaked at 50 maybe, and started to go away. On Saturday, I was standing at the edge of a big sheared-off glacial rock on the Pacific Crest Trail, looking almost straight down about 60 feet, and felt nothing. It was cool, checking out the scenery without the heights distraction thing. I've talked to some other guys who had a similar pattern.

We have hailstorms in central Florida that shatter or penetrate laminated safety-glass car windshields. The same occurs in many other US states. No roof-mount solar panel is going to withstand that sort of abuse.

One of my best dates: drove my date all day Friday to the Grand Canyon, Little Colorado River Gorge, arrived at night. We scrambled in near pitch-black, by the light of the stars, to a half-mile sheer cliff surmounted by an overhang, hung our feet over the edge, and I played my guitar. It was too dark to see the strings. Beautiful.

That's not how it works. The grant committees only have power to direct money into research fields. No one, especially grant committees, decides which research is valid or not. The money is invested, the research projects are ran and the data which was collected and/or the conclusions which were taken are then presented to the community in order for the peer-review process to take over.

This isn't a question of faith, it's one of facts. In fact, this is possibly why there is such a silly controversy regarding this field of research. There is simply too many people who "believe" stuff which simply doesn't make any sense and isn't based on anything beyond wild assumptions and stuff made up on the spot.

That's scientific fraud and people lose their job over it and are publicly shamed, and rightfully so. If you claim to have had knowledge of that happening then why did you sat idle and did nothing to counter it? Or are you making this stuff up while you go along?
