15 years, not new. ;-) :-/My Dad still has his McIntosh preamp and power amp (I forget the type, it's all SS) from college (70s). Going on 30 years old I guess. Not that you'd expect anything else from the brand.

I have one in my pocket. Then again, it was $10, discounted from $200. ;o) (Discontinued support or something.. not like a tech head would need that.)

I'm starting to get the sense how this "game" will work out. It will be around getting an exempt from RoHS. And useing lawyers & connections to make it happen.
It's a shame if I don't get them fixed. When they're working they work very well indeed.

Cell phones with cameras are not permitted in our facilities.
SOME employees are not forced to comply with this, however.
Back when "Mac" meant good things ;-)

I think it's mandated here in the colonies, by 2007 all cell phones must be traceable by location for emergency (9-1-1) calls, so new phones have GPS chips in them.

As if you could repair a broken cell phone outside of their labs.
No. A good "tech head" would know that they are like watches. When they break, ya get a new one.

Idler wheel kits and belts and such (even new heads) are still available. Likely an ebay item.
Fairly likely I reckon. Too much face invested in going back.

Hello Jim,
Yes, I've got one, the Nokia 2115i. Also named "Shorty". It is a very basic "phone phone". As Roy said it may be prohibited or at least impolite to enter the facilities of a company with a camera phone. Since I am a consultant I therefore carry a separate camera and only if EMI remedy work or the like needs to be documented (and then I still ask for permission).
I thought I'd be at the low end of the nerd scale with this phone. Then I found out that from all the biz folks I met since I have it the majority of phones that the others held was that same little Nokia.

Hello Tim,
Here is the office is an old Australian AM radio, the Astor BPJ. Late

Hello Graham,
On the EU-Int forum it says that Perkin-Elmer is in on that one. That ought to get it through.

RoHS will be bad for small business with limited lobbying Dollars. The demise of small business typically correlates with the demise of innovation.

I was only thinking "what consumer crap", but you make a VERY good point... virtually every place I go prohibits cameras.

Ah yes, the good old Vactrols !
I doubt the Chinese manufacturer of Eagle CdS optos did anything though.

How much of a "must" is this ..? Integrity implications..
I don't know the degree of "must", but apparently there have been a significant number of applications for waivers...
Personally I think it's a good safety feature, but I'm sure that some will have all kinds of heartburn about privacy issues.

Verizon is peddling an "optional" feature... keep track of where you teens are... make extra money from a facility already in place ;-)
And as for the number pairs...
