How interesting, I had a 1976 Mercury Monarch which is the same as the=20 Granada. It was a fairly reliable car until it got broadsided.=20

I had a '78 Granada. It was the best car I've owned. 140K miles,=20

The worst, by a *long* shot, car I've ever owned was a '70 AMC=20 Gremlin, the most appropriately named car in history.

I assume by that, you never owned an Omni or Horizon.

It's all a matter of perspective. My brother had one that had a 350 Chevy engine in it that would do 2 foot or better wheel stands, and about a ten second quarter mile. He traded that for a corvair that had a corvette motor in the back seat. He traded that for a nice Moto Guzzi.

and what happens of if you get into a crash? does the sync screen also blue screen on you with a response of "Have a good day"?

They were truly marvelous examples of automotive technology =20 compared to the Gremlin.

I was going to say that the 74 Gremlin that I had back in the day wasn't all *that* bad but that reminds me of the time spent under an interstate overpass (to get out of the rain) taking apart and reassembling the windshield wiper gearbox - without the right tools and with no idea of what it looked like inside...

Try pulling the tranny, finding the clutch isn't like anything manufactured in the last 30 years. Of course the windshield wiper motor was a dinosaur too. It worked when braking and stopped when the go-faster petal was pressed.

I am glad we are not still using wire recorders... aren't you?

I always thought it would look good as a souped up car for the race strip. I remember the SCRambler and AMX, kinda cool. Ugliest=Pacer

Now THAT car seems to me to be the dog of the seventies. The engine is halfway inside the passenger compartment!

Hell, Dimmie, I'm glad we're not still using *tape* recorders.

The one I had, had the VW engine in it. The block and some other parts were metric. The manifold were in inches. Unfortunately someone couldn't multiply by 2.54. The parts simply did not fit together right.

Later they stopped using VW parts.
