Irrelevant? You said they're not "conducive to production" use, yet tens of thousands of them are used in production every day. If they weren't "conducive to production" something else would be used; existence theorem.

"How many used" is not relevant; need ease, speed of connection / disconnect. Ditch the outer locking "shell" of the BNC and the connector slips on and off easily with reliable connection.

IDIOT!! How the heck does one RAPIDLY connect and disconnect a TNC in a TESTING environment??? Time is money..take a minute to connect and disconnect for ONE measurement and the cost is a hell of a lot higher than taking ten seconds for the same function. And production is ALSO decreased due to that long connect / disconnect time; also unacceptable.

Looks like i may use the DigiKey A32450 in quantity, and the "test probe" A25587.

You don't. You probe from the other side, like everyone else. For a final package, use a fixture with a probe. Test doesn't require the mating connector. Think a little.

Only Keith can be this willfully obtuse. It is clear he has never had = the pleasure of moving 200 or so TNC from one Fixture/UUT to another. Especially not in a production test environment.

You're getting to be more and more like AlwaysWrong. Clearly the companies who make those millions of TNC thingys are wrong. Only you are right.

Dpends on the duration of the test cycle. If it is a long test cycle, dis-connect/re-connect cycle logistics become less and less significant.

Our testers hook it up, and start the run, and walk over to the cafeteria and get breakfast. Thet test takes hours per unit. Granted, they are at work until 7:00 at night, but they get a lot of OT and the stuff has to be tested.

Other items that are higher numeric count and have faster test cycle times ALSO have "quick" style insert/remove docking stations in most cases.

The connector for signals depends on the nature of the signal and the degree to which the examiner must retain the signal integrity.

We have TNC and SMA, etc, right up to the scopes and network analyzers. We also use BNC on cheap coax, but that is typically for timing signal lines, not carrier or data lines.

My app - 3KV max, 500uA max when connected, else all zero. Test time about 2 seconds. DUTs in fixture take about 5 minutes to stabilize at temp of 185C. Unless multiple test arrays are made, up to 10 minutes cool-off so parts can be unplugged and placed into numerically labeled containers. Multiple arrays where hot ones cool off while another one is soaking in oven or being tested.
