I'm searching for the pinout for a 2n4893 unijunction transistor, or a test to identify the pins without blowing up what turned out to be a
18$ part.

Motorola (and a few others) made the MU4893 TO-92 version of the 2n4893. Looking at the flat side with pins down, reading left to right, the pins are B1 E B2.
