It's a little early for April Fools jokes...

Their Californicated rates are a feel-good need-based regulated morass--incomprehensible. Their website's full of mind-numbing PC platitudes. Try to look up your rate in their tables...I dare you. No, actually, don't punish yourself.

The gist is the rate goes from $0.14/kWHr to nearly 3x that, depending on how much you use. Heavy users subsidize lighter users.

But you gotta love their commitment to diversity and inclusion:

I'm a SMUD customer. 9.6c/kw-hr summer, 8.9c/kw-hr winter rate. Just got my bill today.

But, yeah, my parents suffer with PG&E.

Cheers,

Michael

They're talking the same story with the Prius (all high mileage cars). I don't pay enough road tax because it's part of the fuel price and I don't use as much as I used to. They're even talking about putting GPS tracking on me to see where I go so they can gcharge me for the actual miles driven. Seems they could achieve that with a lot less intrusion by simply noting the miles on the car when getting a smog check. Of course they wouldn't know _which_ miles I drove and more importantly, _where_ I actually went.
