OT: *Bang* you are dead

Hi,

Vaccines are a bandaid solution, the real problem is if people don't have proper nutrition and a good life, then they are susceptible to disease, if someone is healthy and strong they rarely will get ill. That is what should be focused on, making everyone healthy. Corporations sell junk food and vaccines, those two products feed off each other just like all the other crap they sell. Historically societies had very low disease when their people are healthy with enough food - its when the society runs out of good food that the people start getting diseases as the immune system runs on good nutrition. Don't forget the guy who got a Nobel Prize for discovering the AIDS virus said it can be prevented with proper nutrition.

cheers, Jamie

The delusions keep coming from this unemployable leftist loser.

Your mirror must have shattered on that one.

Sure I noticed but I'm sure Slowman can't even read what I wrote. He is an illiterate leftist loon and as all are, he's blinded by the real world. As far as agreeing - a stopped clock is right twice a day. ...and that's a pretty good metaphor for Slowman's brain. He was finally canned for being brain-dead (and has been unemployable since).

Oh, good grief. Keep spinning - you look like Slowman on AGW.

I imagine what he really said was that good nutrition improves the immune system in general.

This is the sort of distortion / nonsense that has killed hundreds of thousands in South Africa and elsewhere.

Well, I suppose everyone will still die, so yes, in that respect it is a Band-Aid. OTOH, if you consider the complete eradication of a disease like Polio a Band-Aid, well, there isn't much that will impress anything on your closed, little, conspiracy addled mind.

Ah, so people got Polio from eating at McDonalds? Well, I suppose it's a theory...

AIDS can also be prevented by keeping it in your pocket, but we don't want any of that!

Idiot.

reaction based on direct experience.

The "subject of this thread" as defined by the original poster is gun contr ol. I don't happen to agree with krw's point of view on that subject.

There has been a spin-off argument about vaccination, where krw is less wr ong than usual - probably for the wrong reasons. I had noticed, but have no t paid much attention. A stopped clock is right twice a day, and krw's prob ably got irrational reasons for supporting a position that can be rationall y defended.

I was canned for having worked for Haffmans BV for two years and eleven mon ths. If I've been kept on for an extra month I'd have become a permanent em ployee, and a part of the pension fund (which wanted a huge pension contrib ution from the company if I was going to be installed in the fund at age 61 , with the right to take early retirement immediately, if I felt like it).

The administrative environment wasn't all that clever, but the state of my brain didn't come into it. Sadly, krw wants to think that anybody who doesn 't agree with his his silly ideas is brain-dead, but since he can't think w ell enough to marshall a few facts in support of his assertions, this has t o be wishful thinking.

I of course meant this vaccination sub-thread

And you even agree on the metaphor

The corporations educate Doctors and Nurses in private medical schools and it is all about money and Doctors don't learn anything about nutrition, (and actually unlearn common sense nutrition in their education of drugs etc) but that is starting to change since its so obvious that nutrition is more important than corporate artificial money "solutions" for health.

As was obvious, but you'd hadn't made this explicit.

It is something of a cliche.

No one gives a shit what you think about US laws, Slowman. (or anything else, for that matter)

One again, proving what a know-nothing unemployable twit you are, Slowman.

Also believes in homeopathy.

Doctors do learn about basic nutrition, vitamins and trace elements but it' s not a big part of their course work. "Common sense" isn't always correct.

Getting enough food to eat, water to drink and air to inhale is obviously o f first importance if you want to stay alive. Making sure that it is all "f ree range" and "additive-free" is well down the list. Your ideas about "goo d nutrition" are just another corporate money-spinner, but you haven't noti ced it yet.

If that were the case, you wouldn't waste bandwidth trying to persuade the rest of the world that I'm wrong.

wrong than usual - probably for the wrong reasons. I had noticed, but have not paid much attention. A stopped clock is right twice a day, and krw's p robably got irrational reasons for supporting a position that can be ration ally defended.

"Proving"? Sadly, krw hasn't got a clue what might constitute proof, or evi dence, for that matter. If he thinks he knows something, what he thinks he knows has to be right, and his assertion of it's correctness is all the "pr oof" that could be necessary.

Meanwhile, defective US gun regulation means that the US murder rate is 4.7 times higher than - say - Australia, where gun regulation is better.

It happens all too often. Australia re-introduced conscription in the 1960' s purely to be able to send cannon-fodder off to fight for the US in Vietna m.

I was too old to be dragged in, as was my younger brother (by six hours). M y youngest brother had to join the Australian militia in order to be allowe d to finish his medical course before he got dragged in, but happily we ele cted a less right-wing government before he'd finished his course.

I was both when I was younger. Look at Germany and think about what their f orm of socialism is doing for their economy, then read Joseph E Stiglitz on what it's absence is doing for the US.

You could do with a little illumination.

There might be a correlation, people with poor nutrition and no access to AV drugs probably do succumb to HIV much faster than anyone else.

Oh dear - a complete charlatan then :(

Semiconductor processing would not work if their irrational beliefs were actually correct. There is some of Nelson's piss in all of us.

Nobel prize winner Linus Pauling thought that excess vitamin C would help prevent catching the common cold. I was involved in that experiment and the main effect was to make urinating dilute ascorbic acid an unpleasant experience. The body excreted it just as fast as it was given which ISTR was a dose of about 1-2g per day. Benefits in normal people were not detectable. Super fit military in the Arctic apparently did show some positive benefits but they were an exception.

Anyone who studies biology at school gets most of the basics but that doesn't stop cranks and the likes of the Henry Doublespeak organisation creating a market and trademark for over wrapped and over priced Organic(TM) produce certification to rip off the worried well.

Great work if you can get it but minimum inputs farming is the only rational solution. Organic(TM) peanut butter is probably one of the most dangerous products on sale to the public if it is preservative free since fungi producing aflotoxins on peanuts are very very nasty.

Sometimes with additives is much safer than the additive free version.

US still has a problem with people - usually the worried well failing to buffer home canned and home bottled vegetables to the right pH and dying of botulism as a result. Happens in other countries where home canning is popular too but the US cases are better documented.

Nature is red in tooth and claw. There are plenty of nasty pathogens waiting for their chance to get you. Luckily the human immune response is generally pretty good in a healthy individual - although the modern tendency to near sterile hyper cleanliness and traces of peanut in everything does seem to be generating a situation where auto immune diseases and allergies are becoming ever more common in the population.

And Nigeria

"In Northern Nigeria?a country which at that time was considered provisionally polio free?an Islamic Fatwah was issued declaring that the polio vaccine was a conspiracy by the United States and the United Nations against the Muslim faith, saying that the drops were designed to sterilize the true believers. Subsequently, polio reappeared in Nigeria and spread from there to several other countries.[88] Health workers administering polio vaccine have been targeted and killed by gunmen on motorcycles in Kano .[89]"

Nigeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan. All other cases are caused by people catching it in those countries then bringing it back AFAIK.
