more whining

Err.. well it would if you could be bothered to perform the most basic of analysis on the loop stability of a drain/collector output driving a cap, coupled with a dominant pole roll off error amplifier. Having said that, if one does know what one is doing, one can design an "any cap" LDO.

I agree that Hershey is s*it, but UK built Mars and Nestle is ok by my books. The issue is really that Yanks bloody well can't make chocolate, or any decent beer for that matter.

Good one!

Why are the good burrito and Chinese food joints always more than 10 miles away?

I can do the basic analysis, but the LDO manufacturers seem unable. It's not rocket science to place the dominant pole *at* the output, so that added capacitance just slows the whole loop down.

There's good chocolate and good beer here, but neither are dependably available at the corner store.

My personal favorites are Sam Adams and Pyramid Apricot Ale. (And, of course, Guinness.) St. Pauli Girl isn't bad either.

Although, the apricot ale I had back in '99 or so doesn't seem as good nowadays. (Maybe Pyramid changed their recipe...?)

A floating business oppertunity? :)

You have not yet made that robotic coffee maker.. :p

Because it's profitable to "stretch" the truth. And no enough harsh penalty for deter lies in commercials (spam).

Because it all works on 1.2 Volts these days. Like, if you are not part of the solution then you must be part of the problem.

Stop moaning and go sign up for re-education somewhere.

Sheesh, old blokes ay?

The Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen is mighty tasty. For good but weird, try Abita Springs Brewery's "Purple Haze."

Lindt is an extremely respected chocolatier. I didn't realize their baking chocolate was widely available in the US.

I did a re-design in December for a data switch-like product. The goal was twofold: cheaper box, cheaper power supply. I knocked 75% off the cost of the switcher. Then the digital guy picked an FPGA and Ethernet switch that needed another 4 voltages, all ramp controlled (xilinx suck!). That little extra cost more than the entire smps. and took up as much space.

The hilarious part is he reckoned it would take 2-3 days to port the code. The PCB came back Jan 5th, the hardware was debugged Jan 9, I ripped even more cost out and had it running Jan 15. He's about 1/3 thru the firmware as of last week :)

Hire a Mexican? ;)

Be thankful for what you have. For me, good Chinese is only 1.5km away, but good burritos are more like 12,000km :(

My goodness! Are you an American living in New Zealand? (from your IP address)

I'm very picky with my chicken burritos... and just as picky with my General Chicken. ;)

Loop compensation. ;-)

Because you're too cheap to buy your own latte machine? ;-)

I can't answer this, other than to ask, who does this "allow"ing? ;-)

Thanks, Rich

Because you're living in the middle of nowhere? ;-)

So you can run there and back, and call it "diet food". ;-P

Have you tried an ADP3330 (ADI) ? I have used them with 1u chip ceramic caps and so far no problems. Actually designing an LDO that is stable, has good load regulation, good line noise rejection and tolerates a wide range of load capacitors and load currents is not easy, try it and you'll see.

John Larkin typed in news:// snipped-for-privacy@4ax.com,

That's Lindt (Waldbaum's is the most convenient source on the east coast) and Perugina.

Wasn't Hershey's good at one time? I don't know if it's only because my taste changed or if they lowered their standards too.
