We want progressive technology and sustainable laws.

They want progressive laws and sustainable technology. What could be more ass-backwards.

That really sucks.

Methinks you may be misinterpreting the intent. It's not to save electricity. Since the smaller vacuum cleaners pickup less dust, there will be more dust remaining in the environment. This dust will eventually find its way into the upper atmosphere, where it will block some sunlight, and therefore reduce atmospheric heating from the sun. The net effect will be global cooling, which is currently considered (politically) desirable.

I think that was an unintended consequence!

But in this case a positive unintended consequence.

Since Germany, with a population a quarter of that of the USA, makes more m oney out of it's exports than the USA does, they seems to have got both pro gressive and sustainable technology as well as progressive laws (and taxes) .

The Germans may be mad, but anybody who is doing that well may yet be able to persuade US psychiatry to redefine sanity once again, and start locking up the Tea Party some place where they'll do less damage to their constitue nts' interests than they do in Congress.

I'm doing my part. Every winter, the house tends to accumulate dust from the woodburner. In spring, I drag my air compressor into the house, and blow out all the dust from behind the bookshelves, furniture, computers, etc. I have to wear a face mask and goggles. I then let it settle to the carpet, where my industrial size shop vacuum cleaner picks up the accumulated dust. Were I forced to use an under powered vacuum cleaner, much of this dust will be left on the carpet, where it will eventually be released into the atmosphere. Global cooling will surely follow.

That's the hard way. One of my employees at GenRad did it this way...

(1) Open all windows (2) Turn on swamp cooler at max speed (3) THEN walk around house with compressor hose (4) Dust goes out windows, NOT on carper ;-) ...Jim Thompson

Slowman is so ignorant he doesn't understand that there is no such organization called the Tea Party. The Tea Party IS the people, and they're going to cut some new assholes from those pretending to be representing the people. ...Jim Thompson

You go to a meeting and see all these local small business owners and wonder where the lunatics are.

And it's grass roots whereas OWS was orchestrated.

Why do you think he's "retiring" ?:-}

My oldest daughter (*) was Republican Party Chairperson for Yuma County, AZ, for many years. She always described McCain as an egotistical asshole displaying an enormous temper tantrum every time he didn't get his way.

(*) Married to the aforementioned prosecutor now elected judge >:-} ...Jim Thompson

You'd better figure it out if you're going to cry tears for Slowman! He tries SO HARD to piss off Germans and Americans at the same time. You've got your work cut out for you if you want to feel sorry for what Slowman gets.

Would that be to boost the sales of Lucas vacuum cleaners? That is the only thing Lucas makes that doesn't suck.
