Hardware manufacture in prototype quantities

Dear Colleaques,

I'm imperessed to see what is available in prototype PCB fabbing and populating nowadays:

I wonder what are you guys' favorite metal workshop service, available over Internet and delivering in small quantitites? That is, you'd send the CAD drawing of your front panel, or whatever obsure shaped piece of metal you happen to need, and you'd get the actual fabbed hardware via UPS in a few days.

I wonder why such cool new services do not seem to pop out on the continental Europe? They are regularly US- or at best UK-based. Maybe I should start following german-speaking discussion groups ...
