Prototype quantities of Planar cores

Jun 28, 2018 6 Replies

I am looking for some planar cores for prototype. Is there a good source of these? Mouser and Digikey don't really have what i want. I want a round leg with about 2.5cm^2 area.

I prefer one of the suppliers that cater power supply people. I used to know them all, but have been away from this for quite a while.

I am looking for cores - not the assembled transformer.

Try these people:

Element 14 has stocks of a limited number of parts. Specialist suppliers tend to stock more - I had one I liked in Germany, but they probably wouldn't be of much use to you.

If you are likely to make a lot more of whatever it is yoy are prototyping, it's worth asking to the manufacturer directly for free samples.

2.5cm^2 is a big part. A round center leg isn't really an advantage in larger planar structures, where winding breadth is a restriction.

You'll probably have to be more specific about part numbers, or poential shapes and materials, to come up with low volume supply sources.
