IMO the US has a brilliant movie industry. Music industry is top notch as well.

Great effects too. In Notting Hill, Hugh Grant walks across a market. It's appears as one single camera shot, but it shows all the four seasons, from autumn, winter, spring, summer. It's so subtle, the first time I didn't even notice it.

There is a nice very long shot (time not camera) in Contact, with a kid walking up the stairs, but I'm afraid it's probably been green screened and mangled later in post production

There does seem to be a lot of US finance for UK made films, (which say a lot about the UK) and so a UK made film can be called a US film because of the finance.

Funny since the UK seems to buy all the US debt

Have you ever seen the Claw? It was about a group of "Scientists" try to stop a giant bird from attacking, and the final scene was a giant birds foot sinking into the ocean after they used a bunch of junk test equipment in the cargo bay of an old prop plan to shoot it down. It was grade "C" at best, typical of low budget late 50's and early '60s Sci-Fi movies.

It must be even worse than I thought. I can't find it on the IMDB!

I thought "Close Encounters" was a movie about drug addiction, and someone having a really bad trip.

Yeah- now you're talking, Hitchcock is really good.

Those are crap- and Planet of the Apes is too much like a real documentary about the US...
