They took a day off to cry, isn't that good enough?

No, they should take the next eight years off. Actually, they should resign. They don't deserve to hold a job.

Hey Jim, (and other Trump voters) Can I ask you a question? So first background. I was reading a (liberal leaning) blog I like.

You don't need to read it! Anyway they are all in knots over Trump being a racist. (I really hate all the name calling.) And my feeling is that most Trump voters don't think he is a racist. And I just wanted to know if that is right. So if you voted for Trump, do you think he is a racist?

I'll be playing cards with some Trump voting friends tonight and I'll ask them too. This question is in no way meant to be insulting or insinuating.

Thanks George H.

"Racist" has pretty well lost its sting through overuse and misapplication. It's now used in some quarters as a synonym for "white". The left has been crying "wolf" like that for so long that nobody even cares anymore AFAICT.

If you mean, "Does DJT think if there are two equally moral, patriotic, and productive people, one white and one coloured, that the white one is somehow worth more?", I'd say "No, he probably doesn't." So I don't think he's a racialist in the narrow sense.

On the other hand, if you mean "Does DJT think that, per capita, white people contribute more to America than black people?", I don't know if he does or not. It would depend on your definition of "contribution", I expect, and could probably be answered statistically. But the left goes bat crap if you even ask that sort of question.

There's some justification for worrying about the motives behind asking questions like the latter, of course--people like Sanger, Terman (the IQ guy, not the radio guy), and the Tuskegee experimenters were creepy as can be. But of course Sanger is a saint of the left, go figure.

Cheers

Trump is not racist... securing the border against the influx of cheap labor and drug dealers doesn't make you a racist.

Likewise screening Muslims carefully before issuing visas isn't racist, it's caution against people who want to destroy Judeo-Christian law.

I know ;-) ...Jim Thompson

Of course not. He's an '80s Democrat. He's only "racist" because he's not a full-throated Marxist.

The fact that it's asked is exactly that.

Reply to

Yes, I understand that. I was trying to dilute that sense, by adding the comment.

Thanks for answering. It's exactly what I thought, but I wanted to ask, confirm my understanding.

Right. (except the left cares deeply) And so we just throw insults at each other.

Yeah I don't know exactly what sense I meant it in. At some level I think we are all racists, a function of the time we are born into. (I'd also add sexes and religions along with races.) Perhaps you won't agree with this, but I think we've gotten better at recognizing the potential value in everyone.

Right, thanks for not taking offense... it's an easier question to ask when we're sitting around drinking beer and playing cards.

Another hidden cut? The fact that you're asking such silly questions implies that you already know the answer and are intentionally insulting your "friends". "When did you stop beating your wife?"

Reply to

Well, maybe, if you exclude white people from "everyone", and working-class whites in particular, whom the elite and their enforcers have chucked in the dumpster unmourned.

At the moment we have a serious double standard going on among the left. They demonize us, and use that as a pretext to do anything they want, because _we're_ supposedly 'haters'. Very little thoughtful introspection going on there, for sure.

Oh, I'm not offended. The Republic is in mortal danger from your side, though.

Cheers

The racism and hate originates with the left...

The left think that anyone who doesn't think like them are ignorant.

And how they consistently con blacks into voting for them I can't understand... Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood to CONTROL the black population. ...Jim Thompson

Oh boy, Please accept my apology, I'm sorry, I meant no insult. Scalzi (in above blog) was trying to make this argument, that all Trump voters were "tinged" with racism because they voted for a racist. My response was, your premise is wrong. I don't think Trump voters think that. But better than a guess I can ask. Which I thought I could do without being insulting. I obviously failed.

How about a beer and a game of Euchre?

Ugh. I was speaking of a much larger arc of history, hundreds and thousands of years, not the last few decades.

For me I see each side demonizing the other. I don't care who started it, or who got in the last cut, I would just like it to stop. (yeah, fat chance.) I think everyone wants the US to succeed. I truly hope Trump and the Republicans cna make some good things happen.

Okay, somebody has to ask and nobody else will, so I will:

Why do you like it?

Whence comes the assumption that he is a racist, do you think?

I have never beaten my wife, thanks for asking. But then, I didn't marry a girl, I married a full-grown woman who can defend herself.

Nah, with your explanations and tone, I thought you were asking a honest, if misguided, question.

Absurd. It's amazing because Trump has been a Democrat for decades. They left him.

Nah. You're fine. I was just replying that asking the question "is the person you're supporting a racist" is exactly the same thing as calling your friends racist (hence the "when did you...").

Drop the word, it's so over-used that it has lost all meaning. It's only use is to stop conversation.

Don't drink and have never played Euchre (probably have but not enough to remember anything about it). Thanks anyway. ;-)

Quite a lot of the right feeds that preconception. Jim-out-of-touch-with-reality-Thompson is both astonishingly ignorant, and surprisingly unaware of the depths of his ignorance.

James Arthur isn't ignorant, but he has a wonderful capacity to ignore facts that don't suit his point of view

Jim doesn't understand much. The Democrats embraced civil rights in the 1960's, and the Republicans were less enthusiastic. In 2000 Jeb Bush purged the Florida electoral rolls of black voters to deliver Florida to his brother. Some people remember tricks like that, though Jim won't.

More to allow the black population (and particularly the female part of it) to control their own numbers.
