Neither of those is a collective noun. An institute might work.
I'm a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
The adjective "institutionalised" suggests that people who need to be confined to an institution have some kind of problem, but people who assemble into institutes tend to do so to be able set up professional standards, which is more benign (unless you call them "non-tariff barriers to trade").
And John Larkin thinks that he knows it all already, and does resist tutoring, or any suggestion that he needs it.

Donald Trump does have the same problem, probably with same cause - ego-mania.
The phrase "OK, it's not complex. Explain how they do it." isn't actually a request for tutoring but rather a rhetorical trick, popular amongst competitive debaters, that lets them evade the implied question with the minimum of effort.
