Who sells RF shield cans?

These parts are custom in all applications where we have used them. Never seen a COTS part of this sort. Have you considered buying and recycling some canned module; RF modulator, tuner, etc?

As a data point, Jameco part 141639 is $1.74 in 10pc, which is rather expensive - I expect you can find it for

(Laird hired an idiot who made a page with JavaScript'd Flash content.)

That's what I was afraid to be the case. Maybe we'll just do a series at the local machine shop and then offer it to Digikey :-)

Thanks, Lewin. It's a bit high for VME, might scrape the neighboring board. Butchering these is almost as much work as rolling my own though. I've done it for the prototype. Nice shiny copper, looks really posh. But we can't do that in the final version, copper thiefs and all that ;-)

Don't know Laird. But when I look at the rapid pace at which major corporate web sites slide down the hill I have the impression that the script kiddies have made it into the corporate cubicles :-(

Maybe it's time that Scott Adams introduces Dotnetbert and Flashbert.

Come to think of it, the ones Halted has are meant for soldering to the PCB.

Joerg: fotofabrication also sells some that are available in flat sheets with score marks for varying heights. You can break off sections for prototypes, but I think they are all 5 sided - no removable lids, and no through-hole solder tabs

Couldn't see any on their web site. We have a Halted here in Sacramento but it's pretty small and I always dread the long drive into town. But it certainly is an option if the others turns us down because of MOQ. First we just have to built some prototypes, a dozen or so.

And an article on shielding, just because it was in the same file.

Let's see ... 12 shields at 25 cents a pop. That $3, oh, but $20 for the gas.

I do like to support Halted just to keep them in business. These surplus stores are becoming extinct thanks to the net and ebay. No more Haltek, RA, Just-In-Time, and maybe one or two more I can't recall.
