IC header cables

I've seen what I need: a 16 pin DIP header that plugs into an ordinary IC socket, but one with a ribbon cable coming off it.

But now that I want to buy them, I can't find the right terms to define same, at least to please DigiKey or Mouser. I keep getting wrong things.

Suggestions?

Try IDC DIP header plug like

On DigiKey search on idc 16 pin dip header Then filter on in stock, 16 position,.300 row spacing to see the 4 possibilities.

One key word is; Insulation Displacement connector.

The headers are usually sold separately and you press on the ribbon cable you want to use.

Pretty much the standard equipment for connectors to all hard drives preceding SATA.

That type of connector was easy to just nip up on the ribbon cable in a bench vise. An IDC ribbon cable header has pins that you need to protect - just pull all the pins out of an el-cheapo IC socket and use the shell to protect the pins.
