Replacement laptop LCD has weird white border

Nov 28, 2006 4 Replies

My son just replaced the LCD in his sony laptop and now have a problem that I don't quite understand. When I power up the laptop into windows, I get a 1/2" hazy white border on all four edges of the monitor. Any guesses what could cause this?

Does the border obsuce part of the normal desktop or is everything smaller?

Without seeing it myself, it is difficult to say. But, a common cause is the backlights shinning through on the edges. It is also possible to have a defective display.

Perhaps the replacement screen is NOT an exact replacement? Perhaps it is defective.
