Mem Upgrade of a Gericom Overdose II XXL Mod. S3100S (SiS630, PIII 800MHz)

Dears,

I try to upgrade a Gericom NB as described in the subject line. The original SO-DIMMS 2x64MB consist of fore 8Bit Mem-Chips, two on each side.

My replacement 2x256MB SO-DIMMS consist of 8x 4Bit Mem-Chips, fore on each side, and as result the NB recognizes only 256MB RAM.

For better understanding I would like to now if a Bios upgrade could help to get the full mem capacity or if this problem occurs due to hw layout of the mb or Sis630 chip.

Many thanks in advance.

Markus
