I had the same issue just cutting acrylic plastic. It gives off a superglue type smell. The solvents are even worse.

In that case, isn't it because the heat from the saw tends to melt the plastic (or at least the debris from the cutting of the plastic, and then it fuses back together when cooled off.
I know there are tricks to cutting plastic like that, even if I can't remember them.
