New Fry's.. WOW!

=46Inally, Fry's Electronics opens a store on the east coast, in the Atlanta area, right on my commute route!.. =20

Amazing place, they even have scopes, and about 30 different DVM's. $350 gone on the first weekend :-(.. =20

Two gripes though:

  1. The .95 Epson 2200 ink cart price card didn;t indicate the Epson carts, but instead, the brand-X ones they had at the very back of the shelf (sneaky)
  2. The on-sale "Dual Channel 1GB DIMM, which turned out to be two 512M sticks (Didn't buy them, or the motherboard/CPU combothat was to go with them.
  3. The left rear corner of the store. Whenever I go there, I get driven off by the headsplitting booming from the car stereo "thump room". I have to put up thumping idiots on the street all the time, and the last thing I want to experience this audtitory farting when I'm shopping indoors.=20

Yes... Atlanta is finally on the map :)

If you want computer parts, see also Micro Center, in the same area.

It is practically on the grounds of Gwinnett Place Mall (on I-85 northeast of the city). It's due east of the mall.

If you're there on a business day, also check out RS Electronics off Satellite Boulevard. It's a clean, modern industrial supplier, like Ack without some of the character :) :)

And Austin Electronics off Jimmy Carter Boulevard. They have a lot of surplus parts... many of which they've had for the 15 years that I've known them.

Expensive. $$$$ =20 Ack? Where are they? (I've heard the name, but I don't think I've been there in the 20 years I've lived in the area.

Austin: Been going there for years. Much of the stuff on the floor has been there since the beginning. Still, a good place for that occasional odd industrial surplus item. I think the presence of =46ry's is going to hurt them unless most of their business is non-retail. =20
