Hi, im tryin to perform a 2D DCT in VHDL with modelsim simulator but to be honest with you i don't know how to start so if someone can help me it will be great. thanks

Are you intending to use a fast DCT or a regular DCT.
Fast will save you multipliers, but add considerable complexity in the transpose buffer.
IIRC, Xilinx has a series of app notes that exploit symmetry once, for a total of four multiplies per output sample per direction. Check them out.
