Are there any SMPS load conditions that are particularly difficult?

Are there any load conditions that are particularly difficult and causes failures on the average SMS power supply?

Thanks for any comments on this issue.

Depends on the supply at hand.

Lack of minimum load will shut down many switching power supplies.

Transient load surges will put some into a shut down protect state.

Under voltage for a short time will also shut down some.

Most computer type switching supplies for example are designed to turn off at the first hint of some one breaking wind!.

Go easy on the curry - your fart gas is condensing on the PCB and producing leakage tracks!
