What spam? I get about one per week.

You are really lucky not to be getting the spam. This group has been the target of a campaign for the last few weeks. Some news servers seem to be able to kill it but not mine (BT in the UK). So if any one knows how to get rid of it or hwat the point of it is I would like to know.

For the lucky ones we are tlaking about 100s of posts of the form:

random subject, random source and a big chunk of text in the message either lifted from a book or genrated by a not very good random story generator.

What post are you referring to. I see many posts and threads that you've participated in.

The spam bots are annoying but thankfully not capable of generating material we'd like to read. They are easy to ignore. You're posts are still here, so perhaps a new news feed is desirable. There is always that google thing that people talk about -- slow but sometimes useful.

This probably depends on the individual news-server. When the garbage appears, the problem is how to select and dump it. Since these attacks have varying almost anything, the news-server probably selects all articles received withing a certain time span, and deletes those. You just happened to post at an evil time. Try again.

You betcha! For your sanity, please try aieo.org for your news reader. They do a good job of keep that the recent attack spam down. You can even post. And it's free.
