Ebenfalls nützlich wäre es, mal mit den Stichworten "Hamburg Archiv VHDL" zu google.de'n, die haben 'ne ziemlich gute Sammlung von Quelldaten.

Für erste Gehversuche würde es sich sogar mal lohnen, Quartus2 Web Edition von Altera zu laden, die bieten eine befristete Testlizenz an. Das Programm hat sogar 'n halbwegs nutzbaren Simulator.
