Hallo zusammen,
ich möchte gerne ein bißchen am Bios meines ThinkPad 600E rumspielen. Nachdem der erste Patchversuch in die Hose gegangen ist, würde ich ihm gerne ein Backup-Bios spendieren.
Als Flash-Chip ist ein 28F004 von Intel verbaut. Reicht es aus, 2 Chips huckepack aufzulöten und nur RP (reset / deep power down) auf den einen oder den anderen Chip zu schalten (natürlich mit pulldown für den jeweils freien Chip)? Oder sollte man OE, WE und CE auch schalten?

IMHO you need to run CE only over a switch. Just connect the CE for the chip you want to enable (hence CE=chip enable) and pull the other CE high (because I assume it is /CE)

Hmm, tried that but it doesn?t work. Took /CE when I saw RP isn?t connected at all on the board I use (seems strage to me, maybe I missed a via; however, switching CE should be enough even if RP is always low for both eeproms). The original eeprom works, the new one doesn?t. I checked the connections three times and they seem ok. Maybe I missed some other point? The second eeprom is from another working board, so it should contain a valid bios file. I?ve also tried to boot with the working one, started the flasher and switched to the new one right before flashing. The flasher reported "hardware error" then, so the new eeprom isn?t accessible at all.

Du hast an jedem /CE einen Pullup, damit der am inaktiven Flash nicht in der Luft hängt?

Ja, habe ich. Ich vermute tatsächlich, daß der Chip sein Leben ausgehaucht hat. Die Verbindungen habe ich x-mal geprüft, und der originale funktioniert ja (also auch keine Lötbrücken). Mal sehen, ob ich irgendwo einen anderen Chip auftreiben kann - neu gibt?s die leider nicht mehr.
