I am wondering how ultrasound transducers are interfaced to electronic circuit in a ultrasound imaging system. Where can I find more information on this subject? Is there any off the shelf component for this task?

I don't know if there is much published about it. I have designed quite a few medical imager front-ends but when I began 20 years ago there was nothing in literature that I could find. I was fortunate in that there was an engineer who taught me the ropes.
Basically you have to become familiar with the concept of the T/R switch, pulsers and pre-amps with a huge dynamic range, or at least with a fast and graceful overload recovery. A good place to start is the AD603. Not cheap but good.
