TV Channel Filter Removal - good reason

Hey guys, here's my situation. I called Cox today and upgraded my cable TV to the premium service, which includes all of the premium channels. I did this because I want to watch the Suns game tonight (5/2/07) that starts at 7:30pm. They said that they probably won't be able to make it out today to take the filter off, but I REALLY want to watch the game! Does anybody have any suggestions for me? I tried telling them I would pay extra to have them come out today, and even tried getting the number to individual tech's that could come out and do it and I would pay them directly! They said no, lol. So does anybody have any ideas?

Find a nice, comfortable pub with game on. Have a lovely beverage and enjoy the game.

I would definitely go to a bar, but I'm only 20. On playoff games they don't let anybody under 21 in, because they know they can put a

21+ in each seat, and they will actually buy the expensive drinks. Any other suggestions? lol

Learn to call sooner next time. There are safety and liability reasons not to do work outside normal business hours, or to give out the personal information on ANY employee. The day's schedule is usually set several days in advance to allow the most efficient routing of all service trucks. unless they get a cancellation when a truck is near your location its damn difficult to change the schedule.

Don't you have any friends with a TV?

Yeah of course I realize they aren't going to change their schedules to accomadate one customer - it was just a rant man. I know I should have called sooner, but I didn't, so it is what it is.

So back on track - any ideas? I looked up how to do it myself, but I'm not really into breaking laws

You have to have a tech come out to enable more channels ?

It's all done by talking (electronically) to the STB's smartcard over here (UK).

(UK).

Yeah they have to come out and remove an rf notch filter from the line that blocks channels 22-78.

I think my best option is the Cox technician that lives down the street, I will let ya know

The filter is outside on a pole, or in a pedestal. Its federal laws you would be breaking if you tamper with it. There are special tools required to remove the filter without damaging the connectors.
