high intensity LED

Nov 05, 2006 5 Replies

Hi, i recently saw a LED flashlight (mag lite) format with an extremely high intensity light. Does anyone know where i can get one or how to make one?

Thanks

Have a look around the "Maxim" web site. I saw a "White LED Driver" circuit there quite recently !

Baron:

Maglite format? Why so big? Useful as a club I suppose, but Maglite seem to have stopped developing their products in the early '80s.

Surefire U2, a bargain at only $279.

I carry an Orb Raw NS. 77 lumens (about the same as a 3 D-cell Maglite with fresh batteries) in something the size of your thumb, assuming you have really short thumbs:

Plenty more to read about here:

Or, of course, you could just search:

There are LED retrofit bulbs that will fit in Mag lights.

One big link to reviews of many of these:

I have also seen these at Target. Some of these do have a high power LED.

There is also a Dorcy 3-D-cell aluminum body light that uses a Luxeon Star LED. There are also more compact LED flashlights that use these and similar LEDs, and I always see a bit of a variety of them at Target.

I've seen Maglite LED replacement "bulbs" at Walmart along with Maglites and mini-Maglites that come with LEDs and bulbs.
