What is ICE?....

thank you any positive suggestion is welcome may goodness be with you all

Something to cool your beverage, or In Circuit Emulation, if you're into that sort of thing.

Usually an ICE is software running in a PC but includes an interface with a cable and a plug on the end that plugs into a microprocessor socket, and the emulator acts as if it were the processor (executes the program in a similar fashion), while you watch it work from the inside, via the PC. Often includes things like traps to stop at some place in the program and single step execution.

In Circuit Emulation.

Finally, someone who knows less than I do. Where do you work?

I read in sci.electronics.design that Ban wrote (in ) about 'What is ICE?....', on Tue,

Depends on what context you are referring to...

The most recent use of the acronym "ICE" I have come across is in relation to emergency call procedure. ICE stands for In Case of Emergency and it refers to a person carrying a pendant, wrist band or even a mobole phone which contains some peronal information for use In Case of Emergency. It may be a number to call for next of kin or something like that. Some people program a number into their phone which is dialled by typing ICE on the keyboard.

Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is now called ICE, but I dont know what it means.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement... aint google great?

When emergency (police, fire, ambulance, etc.) workers have to look through your cell phone's stored numbers trying to figure out which one of these numbers they should call to notify someone or get information that would help you (blood type, allergies, medication, etc.) , then ICE is the code they look for in your phone list, it means In Case of Emergency.

I gave a number of seminars at Kodak in Rochester, but not FA. Mine were all about the nuts and bolts of analog design (integrated).

Hey, I went to a FA seminar held in NY in the '70s. Were you there?
