Friday at Safeway was hilarious. The store was jammed with panicked urban lefties, loading carts full of bottled water and batteries and canned leek soup into their Volvos. I could have got rich selling sandbags in the parking lot.
It's beautiful and sunny in SF right now, Monday morning, kinda cool sweatshirt weather.

Gold Country foothills is awash with overflowing rivers and mudslides. Nothing serious. No fatalities or rescues of numbskulls who thought their four-wheel drives were impervious to foul weather and continued to drive over the safe speed limit. My sister had an oak come down and missed the house by a few feet. Me? As long as there is no power outage or i-net loss, I'm a happy camper and staying dry. Let the drought commence to get a soaking.

So it didn't get as far south as it might have. Warnings are about what might happen, like "there's a one-in-three chance that Trump could end up as president".
A few unnecessary precautions are a lot less expensive than a completely unexpected deluge.

My wife wanted to make Chili last weekend. The stores were stripped bare of all sorts of stuff, including kidney beans. The news was reporting the weather like we were all going to die. Yeah, we got
*maybe* .1" of ice. The roads were perfectly dry by noon the next day.

We're getting some semi-serious rain on the west coast now. Guerneville is flooded, but it always floods.
I've been through one tornado and at least six hurricanes. The eye of Betsy, Camille, and the aftermath of Katrina. Blizzards stop civilization for a while, and kill people. A bit of rain, and people here panic.
I buy dry kidney beans. Camellia brand New Orleans Red Beans are the best, available from Amazon. Don't forget to soak them overnight and drain; people will like you better.
