Anybody know the smoke point for human skin oil? (That's gonna be a tough Googling. :P) I'll assume human skin oil is like lard (animal fat) with a smoke point of 361F to 400F.
My nose has the oiliest skin. I could rub my nose and then rub a resistor. If the resistor overheats, it smokes at ~200C??
Anybody use this trick?

Lensmakers "ring" optical flats together and look at them under monochromatic light to see the interferance fringes. They first lubricate one or both surfaces with nose oil.

It's an irreversible color change. Scrape, repaint, scrape, repaint...for each test.
Interesting... A selection of paints from 48C to 1250C. I didn't spot a min qty yet.. Hopefully nothing ridiculous like 1 gallon. Otherwise, I might have to fill little bottles and sell the left overs on E*bay :P

:) I did an experiment with my controlled soldering iron. I preset the iron to 150C. Rubbed my nose and then rubbed a cold tip. Turned on the iron. The skin oil smoked! However I don't trust the temp accuracy of my soldering station.

I'm guessing there's some complicated cooking to remove oil from snakes. Do reptiles have body fat? Ans:
Feeding lots of fat mice to female snakes might yield more snake oil.
So..yeah...I think there is a mythical snake oil. If it's not an oil, does snake grease count?. :)

Toronto to Prince Rupert BC 3,009 miles, but that's leaving out a couple of time zones.
Dildo NL to Prince Rupert BC 7,608km = 4,727 miles, but that's staying pretty far south.
Dildo NL across Canada, shortcut through the northern US, back into Canada and up the Dempster highway to Inuvik, NT (on the Mackenzie river delta about 100km south of the Beaufort sea) 9,675km = 6,011 miles (Google maps says 5 days 9 hours to drive it). In the winter months it's still possible to drive on the ice road to Tuktoyaktuk right on the Beaufort sea.
How do you extract the oil from the snake? I've had snake bile in liqueur.. not terribly humane the way they get it out of the snake.

FLIR doesn't work well when your 'tronics is sealed up. Plus, them is darn expensive cameras! Wish I had one. More on budget, you can also buy an IR thermal probe that plugs in to your voltmeter.
