running ddr2 desktop modules with dll disabled at reduced frequency

I want to use some ddr2 modules, but don't need anywhere near the bandwidth. I would like to ease the timing challenges by running at 33 mhz. Is it possible to do this with the dll disabled? Any limits on frequency? Anybody else out there doing this?
