Ram prices

They obviously want to push you into buying their *used* offerings!

New quality high speed ram has become as rare as hen's teeth.

I watched the price for DDR4 ram more than double from September last year. AT first I thought it was pre-Xmas price fixing but it continued to go up in price in the January sales. It is *still* going up too.

Right now used might be a better bet if you trust the supplier!

I've not purchased RAM since the $3,000 I paid for 24MB (an M, not a G) back in the mid 80's. Instead, I pull [SO]DIMMs from rescuable kit (pull the RAM, leave the rest behind as the "rest" has the same recycle value with or without the RAM).

Of course, I tend to run servers so I can take advantage of the multiple slots they support to get the RAM complement up -- unlike laptops where you're usually stuck with two or four slots.

I just rescued a NIB matched pair of 16G DDR4-3200 SODIMMs that will likely find a home in one of my laptops or AiOs. It's distressing how much stuff gets discarded...
