Yeah, you're right. I've also seen that from People from London, Paris, and in Los Angeles when I served a year out next to there at El Torro.

And as you say about being interconnected it showed up here not too long ago as "the Newsgroup the Smart Ones hang around in".

Robert

Ah- an ex-Marine, well get used to it, people everywhere will always look down their nose at you:-)

Yeah. Most of my friends moved out of the city. Either they couldn't afford to buy houses here or they got sick of the fog or some combination of the above.

--Mac

Don't you think I'd gotten well used to it being from East Tennessee before that? :-)

Another argument against Keith's "Blue Blood" if I'd bothered to mention it.

Robert

;-)

;-) Oops. My bad.

Cool. I will. Thanks.

Jim, please don't top-post. It is really annoying.

I am not an expert on California Law, but there are two things I am sure of:

1) You cannot drive to SFO from San Francisco without leaving San Francisco. 2) The USPS considers the post office at SFO to be a San Francisco address.

Try this: Go to

formatting link

Click on the post office finder link (near the top).

Enter SF for city, CA for state, and 94128 for zip code. Then find a post office.

One of the post offices that shows up is the airport mail center. The full address is: 660 W Field Rd San Francisco, CA 94128

Click on the map link for that entry. It clearly shows that post office being on the grounds of SFO.

Maybe there is some thin corridor of SF territory in the bay that makes SFO contiguous with San Francisco. I don't know. But it certainly appears, and I was always told, that SFO is legally part of San Francisco.

You can see that there is an SF police department at SFO, too, if you search on line. But I won't bother to post the link, since this is easy to verify.

Oh, I've run into more than my share of hate from non-blue blood rednecks. They wanted to explain to me how n****rs, kikes, etc, were what was wrong with America.

They seemed to be deficient in humor as well. Though they did seem to think a lot of racist jokes were quite funny.

I didn't. But you can probably blame it on my lack of a sense of humor.

Robert

*Some* jokes are funny, some are not. I've heard a few racist jokes that were. Some on a couple of Comedy Central's roasts of different comedians. Some in other places. But of the ones I mentioned I can't think of any that were.

See above.

Robert

Naah. You seem to have that spot covered.

Why not? You're the one in favor of humor. I didn't say I grew up in Tennessee (not Tennesee), I said I was born there.

I don't know if you're FOS. Like you said I haven't been here that long.

But I do know that your claim that only "Liberal" "Blue-noses" hold such opinions as Win has mentioned is self evidently full of crap for the reasons I've mentioned.

Now, whether that's a data point that implies that you are full of it as well as your recent posts I'll leave to the other members who know you better.

Robert

I liked the verbiage... it doesn't say "Tight-assed Boston blue-nose Winfield Hill", does it?

And you have to admit, Bostonians think that no world exists west of the Berkshires. Almost as bad as New Yorkers who think Manhattan is a fit place to live.

And you have been just a mite tight-assed about W recently ;-)

Your rant DID imply that ONLY YOU came up the hard way. Actually, I have a theory, ONLY if you come up the hard way do you succeed... MOST of us did it that way.

The disapprove of the way the war is playing out.

I'm having trouble finding the facts. Is "idiot" a fact? Your not striking any nerves of mine, I just find that you have an extraordinary hair up your butt about W. Why is that specifically?

You served at El Toro for a year and never learned how to spell it?? I think not.

Jim

I find your bottom posting annoying. Let's just agree to annoy one another, OK?

Google on "Cortese-Knox" and read the legislative act that created LAFCO and city boundary/annexation law. LAFCO = Local Agency Formation Commission.

but there are two things I am sure

And the USPS considers Lake of the Pines within Nevada County to have an Auburn zip code. Auburn is the county seat of Placer county. What the USPS considers an area has nothing to do with municipal boundaries.

\\

Cortese-Knox specifies the aspect ratio of what is called a "dumbbell annex". IMHO there is no way in hell to meet that aspect ratio at that distance.

I don't know. But it certainly appears,

A quick call to your local LAFCO would clear that up in a short time.

My bet is that SFO, like so many airports, is in its own airport district and can contract with any agency it wishes for police, fire, sanitation, etc. Being an independent district and being in a city are independent of each other. Truckee Airport District is half within the city limits of Truckee and half within the unincorporated (county) area of Placer County.

It is also true that the city/county of San Francisco can OWN the airport without it being "in the city".

Graham ... Graham ... OH YEAH, you're the idiot that never learned how to snip.

Dear Win, you hit the nail on the head once again. Rest assured that you are among the friendliest contributers to this newsgroup. And not just friendly, but of extreme value too. The time and effort you invest in your posts deserves the greatest admiration, in particular because you don't ask anything in return. You are a great character, and many times I'd wish that I were more like you. Your knowlegde is incredible, and combined with your friendly character, your open mind and willing to share your richdom with anybody here, well, you get the idea.

Killfile those bastards. You don't deserve to be treated like that. Your energy is much too precious to be spend on dealing with these shitrags. Rubble, mud and debris is found at the foot of the mountain, where it belongs. You are on top, and can enjoy the better view, of which you deserved every single bit.

Thanks, Frank. (remove \'q\' and \'.invalid\' when replying by email)

All? I don't remember talking about everything. You're the one who's never lived in NE, but know all about it.

Ha ha.

I guess Al Gore invented the 's' too. Whe cares *where* you were born if you didn't stay long enough to "live" there.

Only? Where did I say "only"? Blue-noses are worse than red-necks though. At least the latter pretty much just wants to be left alone.

I hope you like living under the "Liberal" boot. Have a nice day.

Keith

Win's "factual" is much like Clinton's "is".

Plus he takes to bait like he's never been fed ;-)

And I find your top-posting annoying too. Add me to the list.

You know - I reckon over the past week or so only *you* have been sufficiently fat-headed enough to reckon top-posting - making you look like Mr Important - is acceptable. Every other single person has observed Usenet norms ( and common sense ) and bottom-posted.

So - are you planning to run for Mr Important ? or what ?

Graham

We're quite fortunate that you and those of your ilk aren't Americans. GFY!

Perhaps Win should leran to use the English language. These sorts also use "hate" as if it's an emotion close to stubbing one's toe on a cobble. This too is a very bad thing for civility, and the English language. It doesnt' do their cause any good either. Normal people don't want to hate anyine, but that's all that's being preached by the "left". They've totally lost their minds!

Keith

I rather like Win, even though he acts like a stuck-up blue-nose. I'm fed up with the self-anointed telling the rest of us how to live and what we can say. Call it an impolitically correct back-lash, if need be.

Keith
