Strange as it may seem to Jim, support for the U.S. troops in Irak is a political question, and the law does ban poltical statements within

150 feet of a polling booth.

Jim is presumably so convinced of the strength of the case for invading Iraq and getting even more Iraki's killed than Saddam ever managed at his most rabid that he sees it as beyond politics, but the poor dear is ever so slightly out of touch with reality.

[Cambridge boots Boy Scouts, calls support for soldiers 'pro-war'}

Heh. Reminds me of some foreign-grown Cold Ware rhetoric that described the Boy Scouts as a para-military organization.

On the other side of the equation, political campaigning near polling places has always been outlawed and it's hard to name a more politically polarizing topic than Bush's "War".

A lot of folks can't distinguish between the war and the warriors. (Draftees coming back from Vietnam got spit on.)

I don't know about that. George Washington himself gave out free whiskey (from his own stills, no less- ah, those were the days) at polling places. I also heard, in the Olde Dayes, votes were also cast orally.

According to the article, only if the statements pertain to that particular election. Which they didn't. In an odd-numbered year, in the U.S., elections are at the state level and lower. No U.S. senators, house of reps, or presidents, are being voted on and they are the ones who send us into war.

Hey, Slowman, Why don't you take a clue from the King of Spain and STFU?

Hi Jim, since when did you take me off your kill-file?

The answer to your question is that this is an unmoderated group, so we can both post whatever we like, which includes comments about each other's posts.

Hey Sloman, why don't you look at the threading or attributions.

But Jim won't see yours (unless someone answers your tripe).

I did, and it was a rhetorical question.

As you did. And my response wasn't tripe, though it did have an element of teaching my grandmother to suck eggs. Jim claims to have been bright enough to qualify to join Mensa, so he shouldn't need to be reminded that this is an un-moderated group, but more recently Jim has been saying and doing some pretty stupid things.

There was another thread afew weeks back where he posted a link to a newspaper article and got upset that people didn't think it was so funny.

I believe at the time that I suggested he seek a medical opinion.
